Ruhr 2010 started like a winter tale |
 An opening performance, on a stage in an old charcoal factory.
The opening ceremony of İstanbul’s 2010 partner, the Ruhr region in Germany, took place down the old mines. The exhibitions, concerts and shows, some of which were staged in tents, attracted thousands of people despite the temperature dropping to -4 °C.
