It is time for our spring concerts. İstanbul European Choir is performing "Messa di Requiem" of Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti at the traditional spring concerts. This work has been performed very few times in the whole world ever, and we are presenting to Istabul music lovers on May 29th and 30th 2009. The first concert of Istanbul European Choir in autumn 2008 will be the seasonal opening of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orcherstra. The concert, at which Carl Orff's famous masterpiece Carmina Burana will be performed, will be conducted by Ender Sakpınar and soloists will be Soprano Birgül Su Arıç and Bariton Güvenç Dağüstün. Our choirmaster is Gökçen Koray as always.
Place: Büyükşehir Belediyesi Sanat ve Kültür Sarayı. Muttalip Caddesi, Necatibey Parkı yanı. Date: Saturday 18th, October 2008 Time: 8 pm In November we will meet the Eskişehir audience once again, at the opening concert of 14th International Eskişehir Festival. This concert will be held on November 8th, 2008 and we will accompany Eskişehir M. M. Symphony Orchestra conducted by Naci Özgüç, on Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th symphony. |

Istanbul European Choir is going tho give the first concert of the new year together with Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra. The choir will be performing Carmina Burana, the most popular masterpiece of one of the most famous composers of 20th century: Carl Orff. The choir will be accompanied by soloists Hülya Kazan (Soprano), Haser Tek (Tenor), Tamer Peker (Bariton) and Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Children's Choir.

Istanbul European Choir accompanies IDSO at another opening concert. The concert which will be conducted by Alexander Rahbari and will take place at St. Irene Museum, is going to be the first time performance of Jean Sibelius' symphonic poem Kullervo, Op.7. due to the 50th anniversary of the death of the Finnish composer. The story of Kullervo is going to be interpreted by the men's chorus at the third and the fifth movements of the work. |

Istanbul European Choir will be performing Ahmet Adnan Saygun's Yunus Emre Oratorio, at the two concerts those will be held by Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, for the 100th birthday anniversary of the famous Turkish composer.  Istanbul European Chamber Choir has been rehearsing regularly at Kınalıada Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Armenian Church every summer and giving concerts since 2003. And this summer, the choir will be giving concerts at two venues, Sedef Island and Kınalıada, conducted by Gülsen Yavuzkal and accompanied by Melina Kuyumcu. The concert program consists of songs from different languages and cultures.

 The year 2006 had two meanings for Istanbul European Choir: It was the 30th foundation year of our choir and also the 250th birth year of genious composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. We welcomed our guests with one of Mozart's masterpieces: Requiem KV626. Our concerts were in two of our traditional venues: St. Esprit Cathedral, Harbiye and Church of Assumption, Moda. The soloists who accompanied our choir were all choir members at the same time. |

 Legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose 250th birthday is celebrated with a great enthusiasm in his homeland and the whole world, is also being commemorated in our country with significant activities under the scope of Ülker Music Days. One of those activities was the concert which Mozart's Great Mass (Mass in C minor, KV 427) had been performed by Istanbul European Choir accompanied by Filarmonia ?stanbul.

 Musicologist and composer Dr. Emre Arac? had devised a special programme to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Donizetti Pasha (1788-1856), the Italian master of music of the Ottoman court. The programme featured unknown works by Donizetti Pasha as well as his contemporaries, with the pianist Ayd?n Karl?bel. Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra accompanied the Istanbul European Choir in two original hymns in Turkish by Angelo Mariani and Donizetti Pasha. Dedicated to Sultan Abdulmecid, both works are being resurected after nearly a century and a half. |

Our traditonal New Year Concerts were at the two of our traditional venues: St. Esprit Cathedral, Harbiye and Church of Assumption, Moda. IEC performed Mozart's Te Deum and sections from two great masses from two great composers: W. A. Mozart's Messe in C-moll, KV427 and Ludwig van Beethoven's Mass in C Major Op. 86. Three of the soloists who will accompany our choir were also members of Istanbul European Choir. |

2006 is named after great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as "Mozart Year". That's why Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra opened the new sason (2005-2006) with W. A. Mozart's Messe in C-moll, KV427 at St. Irene, on 7th October 2005. Istanbul European Choir, who had performed the work before, accompanied IDSO successfully. The performance was conducted by Vesna Souc, young and talented conductor from Belgrade. The soloists were from Ankara State Opera: Feryal Türkoglu (soprano), Ferda Yetiser (mezzo soprano), Ayhan Ustuk (tenor), Cem Beran Sertkaya (bass).

On 11-12th November 2005, Istanbul European Choir performed Beethoven's Messe C dur with Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra at AKM. The concert was the orchestra premiere of Beethoven's Mass and received positive feedback from the audience. The performance was conducted by famous Romanian conductor Ilarion Ionescu Galati. Choirmaster was Gökçen Koray, who is IEC's permanent choirmaster. Soloists from Istanbul State Opera were Eda Bingöl (soprano), Yeliz Çelikkol (mezzo soprano), Ça?r? Köktekin (tenor) and Göktu? Alpa?ar (bass bariton).
